Hi Cathi
I used to work in a forensic hospital setting in UK and we were classed
as a mental health service, non-acute for IP&C. We had patients working
in kitchens and on the farm, so had quite different IP&C issues both
human to human and animal to human.Patients occasionally self harmed or sometimes had unprotected sex. Also
we had to be a bit more creative when having to `isolate ` patients on
transmission based precautions. The UK has The Infection Prevention
Society has a mental health group, but they may also have a support for
corrections/prison staff. You can find them at: http://www.ips.uk.netHope you get some help with relevant IP&C information.

Hi, could list members please keep me in mind if you come across any
IP&C work / audits / standards / KPI’s/ procedures etc of relevance to
the non-acute setting (eg GP type clinics etc) and especially within the
corrections/ prison environment. We have a diverse focus (outpatient and inpatient type settings) within
an environment that the health service does not control. Standard
practices are not an easy translation, including the need to work across
2 government agencies that have different focuses.Happy to hear any / all experiences, thoughts, contacts or work in this
area,With thanks,
Best Regards,

Hi
Has anyone else noticed staff wearing gloves and then cleaning the
gloves with alcohol hand rub – rather than removing the gloves and
performing hand hygiene?Thanks
