Hi Donna
The keyboards with the cover are an absolute nightmare and the staff just remove them or “lose” them as they don’t like typing through the cover. A sealed washable keyboard is the best option.

Hi ACIPC Colleagues,
Our facility has launched electronic documentation and with that the use of computers on wheels. From an infection control point of view I’m recommending either covered or washable keyboards and mice.
We’ve tried the ‘SteriClick’ keyboard and the feedback from users has been that the keys are so stiff and hard to push that staff are refusing to use them. For those of you using computers on wheels – what washable key boards and mice are you successfully using? or are you using covers and if so do they work? When I raised the possibility of using covers here feedback was that these would be flipped off and not used.
Anyone have suggestions?
Kind regards,

Hi all
I think it is very important that the container is secured as we had an incident where a staff member had a needle stick injury when opening a tray type sharps container. We carry these sharps containers around the organisation when we do flu vaccinations and we think this one was dropped and jarred the tray back allowing a couple of used flu injections to jut out. When the staff member opened the container again she brushed her hand against the needle jutting out. Have recreated it in picture attached. So very important to secure them to avoid jarring or dropping.

I was wondering if anyone was able to share their policy/ procedure of transporting sharps containers within the community,eg. travel form base to school and return or home visits.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
