    Hi Jo,
We have moved to disposable screens in ED & day procedures so far but plan to extend this.

We change them every 12 months or when visibly soiled.

I would recommend them for several reasons

    * They look fresh and function well providing you get the correct size.

    * They are light and much easier to hang than material ones

    * Less work for our laundry

    Hi All

Two questions for those of you who have moved across to disposable privacy curtains.

    1. How often do you routinely change the curtains?

    2. Apart issues such as damage, visible staining etc do you change these curtains more frequently ( e.g. c diff patients, CPE, Norovirus outbreak….)

Oops – another question – would you recommend them? If not why not.

    Thanks folks

    Question from my CSSD manager;

How can we safely dispose of explanted pacemakers?

What can we do with them?

    * VMO and suppliers do not want them back (unless specified)

    * We cannot clean properly unless we start to disassemble

    * We cannot throw into rubbish as contain batteries

    * Cannot throw into battery recycling as theoretically are still contaminated
Now some CSDs are known to unofficially dispose of them in the sharps which is probably even more dangerous!

Thoughts on this? Does anyone have a policy on disposal of explanted pacemakers? Do any health authorities provide advice on this?

Thanks for any advice on this.

    Cheers

We are not permitted to hang posters on walls either, so we have gone
with a click frame, the posters can be changed and the frames can be
wiped over. Happy to give further information off line if required.

    Morning all,

I asked the question many years ago and the answer I got was that it was
important to pick your battles. Not very scientific but at least it is
fairly low risk and can be thrown away and replaced as required.

    Hi,
Does anyone know of any evidence around reusable adhesive(………-a
colour tac!!)being ‘an infection control risk’?
I was told yesterday of posters being being held up by this commonly
used material being removed because of the risk.
A Google search did bring up a few hits with the words ‘infection
control risk’ and said product being mentioned in the same breath.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
