Hi Sandra
Our theatre staff wore white cloth short sleeve gowns when leaving
theatre also. When we did audits on theatre PPE audits (on exiting only)
we noted that some of the staff would have the gowns opened at the
front. After discussions between Infection Control and Theatre, it was decided
to change all exit gowns to disposable long sleeve white
gowns….compliance has improved dramatically along with staff
satisfaction. The added bonus for us was the easy identification of theatre staff. Now
we just have to come up with some solution for those few staff that wear
masks around the neck when out of theatre????Regards
Maureen

Hi everyone
Hoping you might be able to help.
Medical and nursing staff love to wear a white cloth gown over their
scrubs when coming out of theatre – these can be worn done up at the
back or tied at the front. Is this acceptable practice? We look forward to hearing how other facilities manage this.
Regards
Sandra Wharton
