Please see below the current PPE requirements in Victorian Residential Aged Care Facilities from the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre (VACRC)

Current guidelines in Victorian RACF are:

* Anyone entering a Victorian RACF must wear a surgical mask at all times.
* In facilities/zones with no suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases in staff or residents; and no residents in quarantine (i.e. no residents who are close COVID 19 contacts as per DHHS, Victoria definition), i.e. deemed a ‘clean’ facility, the recommendation is to use a surgical mask and face shield for all staff/contractors in resident facing areas.
* In rooms/facility zones with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 positive residents or quarantined resident in Victorian RACF, N95/P2 masks and eye protection, preferably visors, are required for all staff entering or providing care in rooms/facility zones with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 positive residents.
* These requirements have been updated in line with recently updated Victorian Health sector guidelines.

Dear Brains trust,

As a Melbourne based IPC educator to General practice, on viewing the updated and attached July 31st use of conventional PPE for different tiers and different contexts which I presume all Vic knows of, would you agree that GPs do not require a P2 mask but that an aged care facility with a case does is this what it looks like to you?
