    Hi Joanne,
This is how we structured our COVID screening program for our employees:

    1. All employee must self-assess their health using the tool provided (attached VEC COVID19 At home Health Checklist)
    2. If employee request for seek leave we contact with the employee to complete the case questionnaire (COVID 19 chart)
    3. We assess the risks based on our risks classification model (COVID19 Chart) and provide decision for employees return to workplace. For example – If an employee is being assessed as low risk they can return to work 0-24 hours of asymptomatic. However, if someone is assessed as moderate risks they should remain at home up to 72 hours.

We have a great success with this COVID screening program in terms of reducing onsite infection cases at the facilities. This approach significantly strengthen our infection prevention practice and build confidence of our returning employees. We get minimum number of onsite infection cases that we need to investigate in each week/month.

Happy to support this if anyone would like to implement this program.

    Kind regards,
    Nahid

    Dear All,
I agree we may need this until we have an ”effective” vaccine.
In my opinion, COVID screening questions are important not just in age care but also in other facilities where there is a large number of employees.

We have implemented an employee screening program at Cook Medical Australia. This is a medical device manufacturing facility, manufactures critical medical devices.

We used similar screening questions that ACQSC recommended for employees and visitors. We have developed this as a tool for a self-assessment health checklist for all employees and visitors before coming to our facilities.

If an employee asks for sick leave, we assess and allow them to come to our facility after 24 – 72 hours with no symptoms.
