Good morning Lori
There have been a number of studies that show tourniquets to be a potential source of infection in the healthcare setting. I have attached two of these for you, the Golder paper may be of particular interest.
ITL BioMedical have a number of single use options available and I would be happy to send through further information should it be required.
Warm Regards

Dear ACIPC Colleagues,
I am doing some work on tourniquets used in our business and I would like to understand more about the types of tourniquets currently being used in various settings for IV cannulation.
What are people using:
– Multiuse elastic tourniquets with a standard operating procedure for cleaning
– Single use, clip
– Single use, tie-upWhat is the most appropriate style of tourniquet to use from an IPC perspective.
Thank you in advance for your feedback and guidance on this topic.
Kind regards
