    Hi all
I am also keen to seek guidance on the use of scissors and nail clippers.
We use nursing scissors for cutting tapes only so we wipe it with alcohol however if we use it for cutting a dressing for a particular resident, we issue that scissors to that said resident in a zip locked bag with their name on it.
As for nail clipper and file, each resident is issued one set for the duration of their stay. We wipe with alcohol after each use. If its needs a good clean we use chlorhexidine soak and return to that same resident.
    Appreciate your feedback.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Folks

I need the hive mind again. Our RACF is attached to the hospital and previously we have sent instruments like scissors to the hospital theatre for sterilization. In practice this has meant that often the instruments never come back to us. Does anyone know if there is a solution that will sterilize instruments without damaging them. Would a product like Isowipes be acceptable to clean scissors prior to cutting fingernails?

    Cheers
