Hi Nicky,
We also use a laminated colour sign (photographic to address language issues) to demonstrate PPE required to enter the room. The reverse side also has a “quick guide” for nursing staff re waste, linen, cleaning etc (addresses casual staff issues).
A trolley with PPE is outside the entrance to the room.
Regards,Anita

HI Barbara,
We currently apply them on insertion and leave where possible for 7 days, however depending on the situation, they may require changing sooner eg, Swan Ganz.
PICC line insertion sites are viewed at 24hrs – if minimal ooze, which the dressing is designed to absorb, they are left intact, otherwise changed.Regards,
Anita

—–Original Message—–Can anyone advise as to current practice & policy recommendations regarding using a CHG dressing on central & PICC lines? There seems to be some debate around whether this should be applied at the time of insertion and left intact or dressing taken down 24 hours after insertion and site cleaned etc.
Kind regards
