Hi Deborah,
The advice from the water treatment specialist is correct, ideally after sanitisation has occurred you should leave the testing for at least 48 hours so that if there are still viable microorganisms in the system after sanitisation, they have had time to recover and be detected.
Kind Regards

Subject: [ACIPC_Infexion_Connexion] Water sampling RO systemsDear All,
Im seeking advice on the timing of the collection of water samples from CSD reverse osmosis systems. In particular, when should the water samples be collected (for microbiological testing) after the reverse osmosis system has undergone sanitation? Current practice is to collect the samples as soon as possible after sanitation. I have received advice from water treatment specialists that sampling should be delayed for approximately 48 to 72 hours, to allow the reverse osmosis system to stabilise following sanitation. Sanitation has included hyperchlorination, peracetic acid and citric acid. The system is not stainless steel and cannot tolerate thermal disinfection. Any advice on the timing of water sampling post sanitation would be welcome.
Thank you,
Deborah
