Hi Fiona,
We screen all renal patients on a quarterly basis.
We screen all patients who have been admitted for an overnight stay outside WA then we manage them on contact precautions in isolation until the results are received.
VRE inpatients are managed in a single room with an ensuite on contact precautions.

HI Fiona,
Screening for haemodialysis patientsKHA-CARI draft haemodialysis infection
control guidelines (2017) were indicating that screening for VRE in haemodialysis
patients was no longer required.
However still waiting for these haemodialysis
infection control guidelines to be finalised and reposted on their website. We no longer routinely screen for VRE
in our dialysis clinics. We manage all patients with strict standard precautions
and strict aseptic technique.
No affect on our VRE infection rates,
which were previously rare anyway.
