    The COVID-19 CDNA National Guidelines for Public Health Units (COVID-19 SoNG) v3.4 has just been published: https://www1.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/cdna-song-novel-coronavirus.htm

    Endorsed changes in this iteration include:

    – Information about the crude case fatality rate (pg 9).

    – In the Communications section (pg 10):

    o Reporting of cases culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds,

    o Notification of COVID-19 deaths.

    – Suspect case definition epidemiological criteria (pg 11):

    o Removal of interstate travel,

    o Removal of Hospitalised patients, where no other clinical focus of infection or alternate explanation of the patients illness is evident.

    – Laboratory testing section:

    o Information on infection prevention and control precautions during collection of upper respiratory samples from asymptomatic members of the public for surveillance purposes (pg 14).

    – Case management section:

    o Updates to infection prevention and control advice to better reflect updates to ICEG advice (pg 17, 18, 21).

    – Updates to appendices A & B, to reflect revisions to PHLN and ICEG advice respectively.

    – Updates to wording throughout, advising that close contacts and returned travellers are required to quarantine.

    – Update in Appendix D to elaborate on which air crew should be considered close contacts if there is a case in a crew member.
