    Good Morning Brains Trust,

I am seeking some guidance around cleaning toys within a paediatric inpatient setting.

Our issue currently is that electronic toys with speakers are being given to inpatients for unsupervised play and therefore we are unable to confirm if any body fluids or blood have been exposed to the toy and speaker.

Currently our process is that toys that can be submerged in water are put in the dishwasher, ones that cant due to water retention they are cleaned with a detergent/ disinfectant wipe for a physical clean.

We are trying to push the play department to adhere to our current toy policy that states any toy that cannot be appropriately cleaned be disposed of. However, as we are a paediatric setting child development is obviously a key part so we want to ensure we have explored all avenues.

Any comments will be warmly welcomed.

    Kind regards,

    Sin Gannon
