Theatre hats for patients

Good morning,
We have heard some hospitals no longer require patients to wear a disposable hat when going to theatre.
There is no information in the ACORN standards regarding this.

Does anyone know of evidence to support either wearing or not wearing hats?

I would appreciate any information.
