Hi
Hope everyone is well during this time.
I have a question, I hope to get some clarification on please.
If a patient is admitted to a Hospital located within a ‘COVID-19 HOT SPOT’ for a non-respiratory procedure, and then is transferred back to a regional facility for rehabilitation/follow up care.
And has no symptoms, should the patient be nursed in a single room, isolated and monitored for signs and symptoms (Fever, sore throat) with no swab collection? Also checking routine MRO screen 🙂
Or should the patient be swabbed on arrival, isolated and have contact/droplet precautions implemented.
I would have thought isolating the patient and monitoring for fever/sore throat etc. would be sufficient as pt asymptomatic. This would save valuable PPE.
And if the patient showed symptoms of respiratory illness, COVID-19 swab collected and contact/droplet precaution applied.
Thank you
Regards,
Emily Stewart – Infection Control Coordinator RN
