Hello brains trust
Just wondering if anyone out there has developed an sterile instrumentation evacuation/ contingency plan in the event of power failure / chiller failure, /aircon failure etc …..some sort of failure which may affect & increase humidity and as such then affect our sterile instrumentation (particularly in our operating theatres) – we are a humid climate here in mid north coast
We currently have alarm controls for temp & humidity now in place … these are set under thresholds for all our sites (we have 7 rural sites) that will alert/ communicate the issue to designated staff if they monitor outside the thresholds (like we do for vaccine & blood fridges) .
the question being when/ if it does alarms what will our recommended actions be ie what do our staff need to do/action other than checking the stock and how long have they got with potentially retrieving & relocating
1. disposable prepacked sterile consumables and
2. re-usable medical devicesand any ideas where is the best place to store sterile stock once removed to decrease the risk of these items no longer being sterile in between getting them transferred to our larger sites to return to temperature controlled areas (or do we just write off the lot!?)
Anyhow just wondering if anyone out there has any similar or local document developed (or they know of any reference points to send me to ) that they would be willing to share before we consider & embark on this project for our business continuity plan
Thanks as always
Kind regards
Lindy
