Hi all
I think it is very important that the sharps container is secured in the vehicle as we had an incident where a staff member had a needle stick injury when opening a tray type sharps container. We carry these sharps containers around the organisation when we do flu vaccinations. Of course the containers are closed and secured by the front slide lock during transport but we think this one was dropped and jarred the tray back allowing a couple of used flu injections to jut out on the underside of the tray. When the staff member opened the container again she brushed her hand against the needle jutting out. So very important to secure them to avoid jarring or dropping. I have notified the sharps company but this would be an unusual occurrence I think.
