    William Robert Jarvis, MD – Bio:

    Dr. William Jarvis is President of Jason and Jarvis Associates, private
    consultants in

    Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases, located in Hilton Head Island,
    South Carolina.

    He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatric Infectious
    Diseases, Immunology

    and Epidemiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta,
    Georgia, and an

    Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory University’s Rollins School of
    Public Health.

    Previous roles and achievements include Acting Director for 17 years for
    the CDC

    developing guidelines for the prevention of infection in healthcare
    settings, a contributor

    to 2009 WHO Guidelines, 2010 winner of the CDC Lifetime Achievement
    Award, over

    400 peer-reviewed publications, editor of 3 books and over 50 CDC
    surveillance

    reports.

    After earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Health
    Science Center

    (UTHSC) School of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Jarvis completed his Straight
    Pediatrics

    Internship at UTHSC. He then completed his Pediatrics Residency at the
    Children’s

    Hospital of Los Angeles, in conjunction with the University of Southern
    California.

    Subsequently, he was awarded a Teaching Fellowship in Pediatric
    Infectious Diseases

    at the Hospital for Sick Children-University of Toronto, in Ontario,
    Canada, followed by

    a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (Virology) at the Yale
    University

    School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics, Epidemiology and Public
    Health in New

    Haven, Connecticut. He then served as the Epidemic Intelligence Service
    Officer at the

    Hospital Infections Branch of the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta,
    Georgia, where

    he remained to complete a Preventive Medicine Residency. He is board
    certified in

    Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases and Preventive Medicine, and is licensed
    to practice in

    California, Georgia and Texas.

    Dr. Jarvis is a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America
    (IDSA), the Society

    for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and the American Academy of
    Pediatrics, and

    a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the Association for
    Professions in

    Infection Control and Epidemiology, and the Pediatric Infectious
    Diseases Society. In

    addition, he has served on countless committees and boards. A prolific
    writer, Dr.

    Jarvis has published his work in numerous journals, including the New
    England Journal

    of Medicine, the Journal of Infectious Diseases, and Seminars in
    Pediatric Infectious

    Diseases, and he has given many presentations internationally.
