QLDHi All,
I have been asked to pass this request on. If you feel it is appropriate please feel free to send around your own networks.
Cheers MattThe UK Ministry of Defence is establishing a 64 bed Ebola Treatment Centre in Freetown, Sierra Leone, which will be staffed through Save the Children International by a rotating roster of ~200 people over the next 6 months. Deployments will be for a minimum of 4 weeks. They are looking to fill the following positions:
* Medical Team Leader
* Doctors with infectious disease experience
* Nurses with infectious disease experience
* Health Information Manager
* Outreach Manager
* Pharmacist
Job descriptions are on the link below.Candidates should have prior experience working in a humanitarian situation or have worked in an international development.
Pre-departure training on security, hygiene protocols, use of PPE etc will be provided, probably in the UK.
SCI will pay a salary and provide suitable insurance cover.Dependent on numbers Aussie nurses would be trained in Australia or the UK (at no cost to themselves). These are employment positions, not volunteer positions, and as such attract a salary and insurance, plus travel costs will be covered and accommodation provided.
Evac (where possible) would be to the nearest suitable medical centre, followed by repatriation to home country. However, there could be situations where evac is not an option, and in the case of contracting Ebola, staff would be treated at the Save the Children treatment centre, which will have beds for health workers. For non-Ebola cases (e.g. malaria/ RTAs) again, medivac would happen where possible. Save’s priority in any case of a staff falling ill is the staff’s welfare.
We’d welcome applications from either paediatric nurses or infection prevention/nurse educators.
Please contact SCI directly if you are interested through the SCI application system
