Hi All
Our infection control team are brainstorming on the way we should work
in future. This is in response to the current staffing changes and
financial cuts. Therefore we are reviewing what our role and
responsibilities are as Infection Prevention and Control Nurse
specialists. What are the roles and responsibilities of ICNs at your
hospital? I would also appreciate if you can also send me your infection
control strategy and accountability framework if you have one. What is
your icn bed ratio- meaning how many beds does an ICN cover or is it
relevant during this twenty first century? I would also like to know how
you keep your evidence post ward visits. We do have profile sheets for
patients with alert organisms- MRSA, C-Diff, ESBL etc and these are
updated as we visit the patient as well as documenting in patient’s
medical records. We also do environmental spot checks weekly and we have
problems evidencing these to external auditors.
I greatly appreciate your views. Many thanks in advance
Edith
