I am wondering how many facilities will use additional precautions for a
patient who has cultured a carbapenem resistant gram negative
(specifically IMP +ve metallo beta lactamase) from a screening specimen?
If you only use additional precautions for certain organisms with this
type of resistance (eg Acinetobacter), please specify. The number of different multi-resistant gram negatives reported seems to
be growing rapidly…. but the number of single rooms we have is not
increasing at the same rate!Thanks
Michael
