    Dear Colleague,

Fiona Gotterson is a registered nurse and PhD candidate at the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship (NCAS), and a current member of the ACIPC. Her current research is focused on hospital-based AMS programs, that are coordinated, or led, by a nurse, referred to as “nurse-led” AMS programs.

Health professionals who are currently, or who have been involved with hospital-based nurse-led AMS
programs, are invited to take part in an interview, to discuss their perceptions and experience of this model of AMS. Interview participants may be nurses, including nurses in an Infection Prevention and Control Professional role, responsible for leading AMS activities. Other health professionals including doctors, microbiologists, pharmacists, and health managers who may have been involved or have experience working with a nurse led AMS program are also invited to participate.

The project forms part of Fiona’s PhD research and will be included as part of her thesis to be submitted for PhD qualification. The Responsible Researcher and Principal Investigator is Professor Kirsty Buising, also affiliated with the NCAS. This project has human research ethics approval from The University of Melbourne [ethics project ID 21173].

Findings of the study will enable description about the features of nurse-led AMS programs, and help to inform development of recommendations for the implementation and ongoing support of nurse led AMS programs in Australian hospitals.
