    Hi Fiona

We also clear with three negative rectal swabs a week apart. All wounds need to be healed, all indwelling devices removed, and no antimicrobial therapy targeted at the VRE within one week of any clearance swabs.

Cleared VRE patients are always re-screened on admission, and when antimicrobial therapy is initiated, but are not isolated on admission. They may also be isolated if admitted to ICU, as a precaution.

    Cheers
    Michael
