Hi Philippa,
At The Queen Elizabeth Hospital we use a single step product (detergent and disinfectant) that is left to air dry. We use this for all MRO and infectious patients, as well as all bathrooms in all patient rooms and staff/visitor toilets. We also use a single step disposable wipe to remove the confusion of when to use a product and also the unknown factor. This has reduced confusion for both the cleaning staff and the clinical staff. The other interesting thing we have seen is reduced person-to person VRE transmission since we went down the single step cleaning, in particular for all bathrooms. The patients also like the fact that they are getting a room that smells clean (their feedback).
Kind Regards

Good afternoon, here at the Canberra hospital we have a 2 step process forterminal cleaning. Rooms are initially cleaned with detergent & water thendiluted bleach and left to dry- however our cleaners are wanting to to washoff the diluted bleach. I am wondering what happens in other hospitals? Thanks
