Hi all,
not sure what that rationale is if a person has not been fit tested? Studies have shown that a poorly fitted P2 mask gives about as much protection as a surgical mask. Given thatthe current trends for Men favour beards no seal achievable with the vast majority of beard types
many people do not even wear surgical masks correctly,
many already use masks beyond their instructions for use i.e. reusing them
lay people are likely to not be applying then correctly let alone removing without contaminating themselves
I think that P2 masks for the general public probably give more of a false sense of security rather than any major improvement on protection. And may make supplies for healthcare more scarce?

To support Kelly further, I would add
1.Go back to pandemic rule 101 avoid the hazard. Ask is it essential to have f2f not even GPs are doing all f2f atm
2.The highest risk of transmission right now is not customer to staff but staff to staff sharing breathing space for long period indoors probably with suboptimal fresh air changes
3.PPE is the weakest precaution so going for a P2 even if it passes fit testing when ignoring 1 and 2 is still a high risk optionAnd dont rely on daily RAT tests plus a P2 while still ignoring 1 and 2 Avoid the hazard first where possible which is each of us!.
