In our new development we looked at a number of options. In our ICU we have opted for the glass that becomes opaque through electric charge however this is expensive. The interstitial venations were considered our back up option as the glass covering both sides is easy to clean. Both of these furnishings do have some down sides that need to be considered around ability to replace or repair if they malfunction, however for ease of cleaning the benefits were seen to out way the risks.
In general ward areas we have used standard curtains on the external windows with bed/privacy curtains in the room. Once again this was around ability to clean/launder curtains.
Roll up blinds would be difficult to clean I would imagine and not something that is easy to remove and launder.

Hello,
This is my first post, so hopefully I am following correct protocol. I was hoping to get an idea on what type of window furnishings are being used in isolation rooms. My hospital is undergoing redevelopment and there is a query relating to interstitial venetian vs. roll up blinds in an isolation room. Any advice would be welcomed.
