WADear Michelle,
Thank you so much. Funny enough I have just reviewed this package again, as it had been many years since I completed when first released and my memory of the training was that it was too complex for use by all HCWs.
On recent review, I did note a few typos that I believe would make completion of sections problematic for some sectors of staff – particularly environmental services staff. E.g. attachment 1. The table is not well explained and when re-presented a few pages later the typos are gone which is good, but the one with the typos is the first slide staff would see.
Then when they get to activities, the statement for managing biological spills is the same as the factors to consider and therefore confusing for staff. I have cc’d NHHI into this email and hopefully these typos can corrected for staff completing these modules.
Still, much of the information is quite well presented overall and covers most of the basic IPC related information/messages.
In relation to the assessment questions however, out of 8 questions, 3 of them are in relation to patient placement and I believe could be a little tricky for some clinical staff let alone non-clinical (food service staff, environmental service staff, administration staff etc). I feel much more general questions could be asked for a basic introductory package to IPC. The assessment does seem more directed to IPC link staff / novice IPC staff who would more often be asked to assist with these type of situations.
Just a thought, but perhaps nationally we could consider provision of a basic, but comprehensive, IPC introductory e-learning package again?
Kind Regards

[Our Values: Community, Compassion, Quality, Integrity, Equity and Curiosity]Hi Sharon.
There are a range of Infection Control and related modules available via the Hand Hygiene modules site. I’m not sure if this link will work as you need to be logged in: https://nhhi.southrock.com/cgi-bin/CatalogFindTab.cgi?msecs17973e010287ffef182a9fd0cc09efd4&cat10001&cgi_actioncat
This first module is pretty good though.
