Dear All,
I am interested in evidence or experiences related to a type 5 negative
pressure room in an Emergency Dept also being used as the chemical
isolation room. The chemical isolation room requires charcoal filters to
be used. I’m not sure how this may affect either or both systems.

I would suggest checking the possibly different air flow strategy
required for a negative pressure room vs chemical containment. But it
could be possible from what I understand. Please also see forward here
from our Building manager about breach alerts and risk of contamination
related to filter changes. I would suggest you will need advice from air
conditioning expert or engineer.

FWDHi Jane,
My concerns would be with BMS alarms (Wording) reconfiguring on
contacts re breaches, Dect phone etc at each change of room, that might
confuse staff of the use in these rooms. Negative pressure rooms have
separate systems but normally Alarms have to be reset manually as
Australian Standards requirement.
Also any cross contamination between filter changes could be an issue.
I havent seen a Standard which reflects multiple use of these rooms,
which doesnt say they have not approved latterly. WA does have some
different Standards. Hope this is of some help.
