HI all,
Our organisation has recently made a decision to return to fit testing. A quantitative method will be used.
After recently reviewing this process it was noted that there is double tubing that is reused in this particular machine. Of concern is the tube that is connected to the disposable respirator which has no filter (as it would affect the fit test reading) and is not cleaned or changed between tests.
We have reviewed the manufacturers instructions which do not mention cleaning or changing the twin tubing.
Can anyone who currently uses a machine with twin tubing for fit testing in their facility/service, please share with me how you manage this IPC risk regarding the twin tubing, specifically the tube that connects to the respirator?Kind regards,
Leah

We have recently begun fit testing with a machine with twin tubing and have been reusing the tubing as per the manufacturer. We have noticed condensation in the tubing and are concerned that this might permit cross contamination of users. Do you have any thoughts on this?
We considered reprocessing the tubing but that means having to buy lots of tubing.
Many thanks
