Does anyone have any comments? Have you used H2O2 as a disinfectant? Is
there proof of disinfection by aerosoled particles?Cheers Lyn

Lyn,
We were also using the OPA in the GUS system, and changed over to the
Trophon EPR in 2009. This is an excellent system, and more user
friendly than the OPA system. There is a lot of data on this system,
just google Trophon EPR. We have been very happy with this system and
have had no problems.

Hi Lyn,
We also adopted the Trophon system at the RHH in 2009. Our organisation
utilised the European data to support introduction of the system and
after due consideration our Infection Control Committee supported
purchase of a number of units. The systems have been well accepted and apart from a few teething
problems with one unit we have experienced no ongoing issues and are
happy with the simplicity and broad acceptance by staff of this system. Please feel free to contact me again individually if you wish.
Kind regards
Rachel

We have Trophon EPR in our medical imaging department and are increasing
this to other areas within our service. The ultrasonographers find it very easy to use and it has been well
received.Visually the probes that are disinfected in the Trophon are much
cleaner. The only major problem we had was damage to the outer cover on the
probes which was attributed to the machine.Further investigation revealed that staff did not open the door wide
enough and when putting it in the machine, brushed against the latch and
was damaged. An expensive error that was rectified with some education!
Hydrogen Peroxide is also used in the Sterrad system and we use it for
our flexible endoscopes in CSSD. One of its benefits is short
sterilisation times.I am interested and easy method in tracking usage as with other
disinfection processes but this is a foreign concept to
ultrasonographers and the medical staff who will be the primary users.Any tips or comments greatly appreciated.
Do other services using the Trophon track usage?
