Dear colleagues,
I would like to make you aware of the PPE Video Series that has been produced by Public Health Services and is now available on the Tasmanian Infection Prevention and Control Unit website.
Over the past 15 years there have been a number of new and emerging infectious disease outbreaks that have caused global concern in healthcare settings.
These include Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2002-2003, H1N1 influenza in 2009 and more recently, Ebola Virus Disease in 2014- 2015.
All of these outbreaks have highlighted the importance of the proper use of PPE to protect healthcare workers and the general public.
TIPCU identified a need to educate healthcare workers on the appropriate use of PPE when using standard and transmission based precautions. This training needed to be appropriate for online learning and for a wide variety of healthcare settings.
Because no local or international resources met this brief we have produced four short educational videos outlining how to put on and remove PPE safely when using standard and transmission based precautions.
The videos can be downloaded at the following link: https://www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/publichealth/tasmanian_infection_prevention_and_control_unit
The TIPCU Team hope that these videos are a useful resource for healthcare worker education and training. Please feel free to promote this resource and use as appropriate.
Regards,
