HI Champions!
Straw pole or any references to support whether or not a HCW caring for a
non COVID/suspect/confirmed person can just wear a face shield and no mask,
or do you believe that it should be a face shield and a mask?Having a lot of problems with staff with spectacles and now skin issues
So as part of mandatory masks now in Vic:
Option 1 – face shield only
Option 2 – face shield and mask required
Thanks a bunch
Michelle

Hi Michelle,
This linked video is quite good on Face shields. (it is later on within the
talk)I don’t believe a face shield by itself would be acceptable.
Face shields are great to keep your mask dry in there is a chance
of splatter e.g. we wear both in dentistry. It may not be very helpful in your context but skin tape to fix the top of
the mask over the nose will stop fogging; different masks have different
feel – if you can source different suppliers that may be worthwhile. The
level 3 masks have a different feel to the level 2 masks.
It is strange to hear about skin issues. It may be the length of time staff
have the mask on for or the brand? In this Covid-19 Medical Grand Rounds (July 16, 2020), three world experts
discuss a variety of issues surrounding how the coronavirus moves from
person to p…kind regards
