FYI to all ICP’s interested in VA infection prevention.
See attached link for those who would like to attend a webinar on the
following;Post-Insertion Vascular Access Device Care: Infection Prevention Across
the ContinuumThursday, February 13, 2014
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EST
(9 AM PST/11 AM CST)Prevention of vascular access device (VAD)-related infections remains a
national goal. Optimal catheter care at the time of placement through
implementation of the “central line bundle” has had a major impact on
central line associated bloodstream infection rates. However, the
central line bundle strategy is not enough. There is growing attention
and emerging research now aimed at post-insertion care and maintenance.
Because many patients transition between health care settings, such as
from hospital to home or long-term care settings, sound care and
maintenance care strategies are essential in preventing infection as
well as potential re-hospitalization. This webinar focuses on current
evidence and recommendations for post-insertion VAD care including
attention to aseptic technique, dressings, IV tubing, and needleless
connector disinfection.http://www.infectioncontrolresource.org/invite/20140213/invNurses.html
