Our midwifery staff are seeing an increase in requests from patients to have their placentas collected for encapsulation. I was wondering if anyone has a policy or information they would like to share regarding this, in particular how they store the placenta until collected by the encapsulator, which in some cases could be the following day.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

In New Zealand it is Maori custom or Tikanga to return the umbilical cord and placenta to the family. We have clear cultural protocols and a policy for this as it is a common occurrence.
Happy to share the policy if you email me directly.Cheers
