    Dear all,

I know we have been inundated with EBOLA over the past few months but I thought it opportune to remind everyone that around the world, a lot of places have had delayed or are in the throes of a very bad flu season.

Also let’s not forget the past pandemic we had and the current cases of H7N9 and Avian Influenza. Not to mention MERS-Cov.

ACIPC or (previously as AICA) were involved in a nationally agreed health sector response plan: the Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza (AHMPPI) in 2009. Since then we have worked collaboratively with Australian Government Department of Health, to develop a revised AHMPPI. This has taken into account the recommendations of the Review of Australia’s Health Sector Response to Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and developments in the approach to pandemic response within the international community.

The Australian Government Department of Health Pandemic Influenza page is also currently being updated.

I would highly suggest that ICPs bookmark this link below as it is currently located on a new website under the consumer pages.

The new AHMPPI is now available on this page and again I suggest you bookmark this page. It can also be accessed from the link above.
    http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/ohp-ahmppi.htm

The most important section for ICPs (my personal reflection) are pp 99-108, 136-137, 141-142, 148-149 and 150-166.
The document are available in word and PDF.
There is also quite extensive evidence summaries further down the page that can be downloaded as well.

Good luck all with preparing for next years flu season and updating your Pandemic Plans.

    Kind Regards

    Marija Juraja
