These frequently used items are labelled single use. If we complied
strictly with this instruction some of our wards would not have
sufficient storage space for all the nebulisers required! What do
other hospitals do? Do they convert this to single patient use? Do they
discard them after 1 day, 1 week ? Is there any evidence to implicate
these items in cross transmission if they are not discarded after every
use?Rhea Martin

Hi Rhea
Thanks for raising this. This problem (and cost) is escalating for many such items marked single use. We have tried to seek clarification with manufacturers, but have nothing in writing. Maybe it should be raised with the TGA as it must be a national problem.
ThanksSharon
