    Good morning,
    We are trialling microfiber and the company recommends not using detergent disinfectant with the mop heads.

    I was wondering what other hospitals using the microfiber are doing in regards to cleaning:

    * MRO – isolation rooms

    * Bathroom floors

    * Clinical floors

    I would appreciate any feedback.
    Kind regards,
    Pam

    Hi Pam

    We use a detergent disinfectant combination with microfibre cleaning of isolation rooms, and use the microfibre mop heads as well as the microfibre cloths with the detergent disinfectant solution, as agreed to by both the supplier of the microfibre products, and the chemical supplier.

    Contact me directly if you want to know details of these items.

    Cheers
    Michael

    Hi Pam,

    We have been using microfibre for approximately 15 years
    MRO room – disposable cleaning equipment
    Bathroom floors and Clinical floors – microfibre and water.

    You must have good quality microfibre products.
    If you want the name of the disposable equipment we use please email me.

    Hi Pam,

    We use the microfiber cloths with chemicals (sodium hypochlorite), especially for MRO rooms, bathrooms and high-risk clinical areas on all surfaces including walls (haematology/oncology, burns, ICU etc).
    The cloths/mop heads don’t last that long. As soon as you introduce chemicals and heat this can alter the fibres of the cloth and reduce their efficacy.
    Again, there are so many factors that contribute to making a disposable microfiber cloth and some products are better than others.

    Dear Pamela etc – re the 2 in one wipes. Please ensure staff know to remove
    all visible soil first before expecting such a wipe to disinfect – most
    disinfectants are inactivated by organic soil so this requires removal prior
    to disinfection. Additionally, different pathogens require different wet
    contact times for inactivation ie norovirus vs Staph are quite different.
    This contact info is on the manufacturer’s specifications

    If cleaning only is required then I would suggest only use of a detergent
    wipe rather than applying a multi – chemical wipe. I understand wipes are
    for spot cleaning so again not sure what size areas you are wanting to use a
    wipe for
