Hi – I was wondering if anyone can help me with the latest advice on using a P2 mask during a gastroscopy (AGP) when the patient is neither COVID 19 positive or suspected.
I know some advice is to wear one – but the latest advice from the College of Anaesthetists is it is only required if the patient is a known or suspected COVID 19 patient. During this time of mask shortage I would appreciate some direction from the experts!
    Thanks
    Jenny

    Hi Jenny,

Safer Care Victoria included gastroscopy as an AGP in their guidance on HCW PPE https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-healthcare-workers-ppe-guidance-0 under the section “When are airborne and contact precautions required?”

I have been advised that this is a guideline and it is up to the organisation to risk assess and decide whether they will follow it.
