Hi there
Could anyone tell me what an acceptable target rate for LUSCS infections might be. Ours is set at <1% and there is debate that this is too low.

Thanks everyone for your comments on my questions. This forum is so valuable to practitioners like myself who are professionally isolated and have a depleted ID team. We report according to ACHS Clinical Indicators V4.1. When we look at the data we do separate and review emergency and elective cases to implement an infection control plan , however the ACHS report combines numbers as required below. I am trying to clarify a benchmark rate which is best practice to allow us to determine if we have a problem or not.
I am very keen for your thought, thanks to those who have offered to assist and will get back to me.
Infection Control version 4.11.7
Superficial SSI – LSCS
Number of superficial SSI following lower segment caesarean section procedures (LSCS) performed, during the 6 month reporting period.
Number of lower segment caesarean section procedures performed, during the 6 month reporting period.
Infection Control version 4.1
1.8
Deep or organ / space SSI – LSCS
Number of deep or organ / space SSI following lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) procedures performed, during the 6 month reporting period.
Number of lower segment caesarean section procedures performed, during the 6 month reporting period.
