Hi Brains Trust,
In my experience of aged care facility laundering, I usually see facilities where resident personal clothes etc are washed on site, however the “flats” (bedsheets, towels, pillow cases etc) are usually sent away for cleaning at a commercial laundry. This is usually due to the larger commercial laundries ability to comply to AS/NZS 4146:2000 Laundry Practice and conduct quality assurance activities which are often beyond the scope of a RACF laundry.
I would like to know if there are any RACFs out there who manage their own “flat” linen? And if so, how does the facility manage quality assurance activities, for example assessing linen wear and micro testing etc?
Many thanks
