Laundering of Theatre Scrubs

Hi all,

I am aware that the current ACORN Standards (2012-2013) specify that in relation to laundering of Theatre Scrubs in Standard 11, Perioperative Attire the following

“Perioperative attire shall be supplied and laundered by the healthcare facility and its contractor.”

I have been approached by a member of my organisations Theatre staff in relation to this requirement. They have been advised (by an anaesthetist) that there is no longer a requirement to comply with this Standard. I believe this anaesthetist is quoting new research that may supersede this advice.

I am unaware of any change in the evidence in this regard. Any comments?
