Launch of new Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Care Standard your invitation

As World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) draws to a close today, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is marking the occasion with the release of the 2020 Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Care Standard.

The Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Care Standard was first published in 2014 and describes the care that should be provided to patients with an infection, or at risk of infection. Following a comprehensive review, the updated standard includes strengthened recommendations regarding surgical prophylaxis and a new statement about assessing adverse reactions to antimicrobials (including allergies).

To officially launch the updated clinical care standard and explore what has changed in the management of patients with an infection or at risk of an infection, the Commission is pleased to be hosting a lunchtime webinar together with the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA).

    Speakers:

    * Professor John Turnidge AO – Commission Senior Medical Advisor, implementing national surveillance for antimicrobial resistance and usage in human health

    * Dr Kathryn Daveson – Infectious diseases physician and Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Care Standard Review Group

    * Julia Hruz – Education Coordinator, SHPA

    * Fiona Doukas – Senior Pharmacist (Antimicrobial Stewardship) and Commission Senior Project Officer, Clinical Care Standards team

REGISTER NOW to attend the webinar

Please share this invitation with anyone in your network who may like to join the webinar and hear the discussion. There is also the opportunity for pharmacists to earn CPD credits.
