    Dear Colleagues

I have been asked by the Nurse Educator of our Operating Theatre if anyone has information on Surgical Site Infections and Infection Control Principles relating to:
    – time and exposure of the joint/instrument setup from the setting up of the sterile field while the patient is wheeled into the OR, positioned and anesthetized till “knife to skin” and use of the sterile instruments.

The issues would be around contamination of the sterile field through movement and air flow/turbulence.

    Regards

    Julie
