Overview
This is a practical hands on workshop which includes group work in a
simulated training environment. The workshop will be of interest to
managers, direct resident care staff, educators and quality improvement/risk
management personnel.The workshop will focus on strategies for the prevention of infection in
patients, staff and visitors in aged care settings and includes:. Common infections
. Multidrug resistant organisms (MRSA, VRE, Clostridium difficile)
. How to monitor and tract infections
. Investigation of outbreaks
. Isolation precautions and the use of personal protective equipment
(PPE). Aseptic technique and hand hygiene
. Resident and family education for prevention of infectious
