Torres Strait – Northern Peninsula Hospital and Health Service Hospital and Health Service:Classification level: Nurse Grade 7
Salary level: $93 888 – $100 606 per annum

* To facilitate the implementation, maintenance and ongoing evaluation of the Torres Strait – Northern Peninsula Hospital and Health Service (TSNPHHS) infection control plan.
* To act as a resource and provide guidance for the HHS in regard to health management policies governing clinical practice, environmental issues and population health matters that involve infection control.Your key responsibilities
* Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health’s core values, as outlined above.
* Develop and maintain a multidisciplinary network within the HHS and with other infection control practitioners in order to inform robust policy and procedure guidelines that meet with Australian Infection Control Standards, relevant legislation requirements and comply with best practice standards.
* Develop and implement surveillance tools to monitor the incidents of socomal and non socomal infection rates and provide strategies to contain transmission and maximise staff and community protection from communicable conditions and diseases. This may include coordinating staff vaccination programs.
* Manage occupational exposures in accordance with the current Queensland Health Infection Control Guidelines.
* Design and deliver education and orientation programs that address infection control issues relevant to the clinical practices of all health service providers across the HHS.
* Lead a multidisciplinary infection management committee to continually monitor processes and systems that compliment a comprehensive HHS infection control management plan. Maintain an infection control manual that reflects HHS policy and plans.
* Provide infection control reports to the TSNPHHS executive management committee as required.
* Participate in the evaluation of new equipment and products to ensure that compliance with infection control standards are met.
* Contribute to the HHS wide accreditation program through engaging in quality improvement processes and activities
* Maintain currency of clinical knowledge that underpins expertise in a specialist field.Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements
* Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.

* Demonstrated proficiency in the development, coordination and facilitation of an infection control management program including research, data collection and analysis.
* Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, epidemiological principles, surveillance methodology and processes in line with relevant government acts and legislation. This domain is inclusive of managing staff occupational health exposures to blood and body fluid borne disease.
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate, build team confidence and drive change where appropriate.
