Hi all
Does anyone have an example audit program and/or audit tools you could share for infection control auditing that should occur in a theatre suite (in addition to HH) and CSSD? Especially to meet the NSQHS standards. And the same for general practice to meet RACGP standards. I work across both areas. Much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Erin

Unfortunately, I can’t help you but would like to join your issue as we are currently looking into updating our auditing schedule and tools and want to address the specificity of operating theatres as well.

Hi Erin,
Auditing in the Operating Room [and in general practice for that matter]
should not be dissimilar to that which you conduct on the wards – you should
still be checking accessibility of PPE, hand hygiene product, sharps
containers, correct waste disposal, storage of clean and soiled linen,
cleanliness of the environment and shared patient equipment and appropriate
storage of sterile items.Whilst surgical scrubbing and surgical aseptic technique may be a little
more involved than what you may be observing on the wards, the principles
are similar and are well described in ACORN Standards.Kind Regards
