Antimicrobial resistance: a global health issue

Dear Colleagues,
We have the great pleasure to provide you with the video link featuring highlights from the antimicrobial resistance session at ICPIC 2013.
You will certainly recall that all speakers strongly emphasized that antibiotic-resistant bacteria were an increasing public health threat and called for serious action worldwide.
Following this timely session, The New York Times and CNN have called attention to a new report issued earlier this week by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention entitled Antibiotic Resistance Threats in the United States, 2013.
The threats are ranked in categories: urgent, serious, and concerning (http://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2013/p0916-untreatable.html<http://ch1-marketing.mci-group.com/t/73928/28065362/17261/0/>; http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/17/health/cdc-report-finds-23000-deaths-a-year-from-antibiotic-resistant-infections.html<http://ch1-marketing.mci-group.com/t/73928/28065362/17262/0/>; http://edition.cnn.com/2013/09/16/health/antibiotic-resistant-infections-cdc/index.html<http://ch1-marketing.mci-group.com/t/73928/28065362/17263/0/>).
