    Hi all
My health service has a number of ice vests that are used by the COVID-19 testing and administration staff in the outdoor testing facilities. We experience some pretty hot summer days in our area of Victoria. Add to the tier 3 PPE that staff are required to wear and it’s pretty atrocious. Ice vests are being used by staff.

My health service has purchased the Arctic vests and neck wraps from Artic Heat (https://www.arcticheat.com.au/product/neck-wrap/ and https://www.arcticheat.com.au/product/cooling-vest/ )

Both products are made of the same material – 100% polyester interlock inner and a Micromesh outer worn against the skin or over a light singlet top. The vests are soaked in water to activate the gel crystals which are in sealed pockets. Once activated they are placed in a dedicated freezer. The vests and wraps are wrong under the gown.

The product information advises warm soapy water wash with mild soap for 2 minutes, rub over with a towel to remove residue and hang to dry, before being reactivated and frozen again.

Any help with the following would be appreciated:
    * Does anyone else use these or similar? Noting they can also be used for chemotherapy, eczema and spinal injuries.
    * Are they assigned to a single person for individual use or, after washing and appropriate care, are they used by other patients or staff?
    * Would it be appropriate for these to be shared by a group of staff?
    * Does anyone have a policy or procedure for their use and care?
    * Warm soapy water can mean different things to everyone – if it was standardised any suggestions? Or should a disinfectant be used? (I’ve sent an email to the company asking the same)

    Thanks so much
    Jen
