Hi Folks
We recently had a resident in our RACF unexpectedly pass away, not COVID related, and I have been asked by my managers to report the resident’s COVID vaccination status. My problem is I have no idea who this needs to be reported to. Does anyone have any ideas?Cheers

See attachment may be it could help although am not sure where you should be reporting a deceased resident. That could be also be state by state. The management should have advised you as to where exactly they want this reported. All the best

You might try either the Aged Care Quality unit or the Department of Health
number used to report elder abuse or missing residents. The aged care

VICHi Jude, I do all our aged care reporting regarding COVID 19 vaccination in aged care and apart from the de-identified reporting that we do on a weekly basis I have not heard of a requirement to report on a residents passing. The only thing I can think of is if there is an inquest into the death and the COVID 19 vaccination status of the resident is requested as part of this process. Can you approach your manager and ask for more specifics about what they are requesting you to do?

In Victoria if the death has occurred during an outbreak/cluster of
residents and/or staff with respiratory symptoms you need to:a.Notify the department of the outbreak including the number of people
with influenza-like symptoms who have died.See extract and reference below:
4.4 Notifying the Department of Health and Human Services If an outbreak is
suspected, notify Communicable Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) at the
department via telephone 1300 651 160 as soon as possible.A public health officer (PHO) will assist with advice and guidance on how to
proceed.At the time of notification, the PHO will request the following information:
. total number of residents and/or staff with respiratory symptoms Page 14

We recently had a resident in our RACF unexpectedly pass away, not COVID related, and I have been asked by my managers to report the residents COVID vaccination status. My problem is I have no idea who this needs to be reported to. Does anyone have any ideas?Cheers
