Dear members,
Healthcare Infection (HI), the official international peer reviewed journal of the ACIPC is seeking to increase its peer reviewer database. This is in response to considerable growth in recent times and our vision of being recognised as the premier infection control journal in the Asia Pacific region. The journal is indexed in several databases and is currently undergoing review for MEDLINE indexation. Submissions to the journal, citations and downloads of HI articles are increasing, demonstrating the increasing role HI plays in promulgating high-quality, evidence-based research to policy makers, clinicians and academics.
If you are interested in reviewing articles for the journal, please read the ‘further information’ section below. If you are still interested, please contact me directly (i.e. offline to this list) – brett.mitchell@avondale.edu.au . Interested parties should be prepared to share their CV and nominate areas of expertise to the Editor, if requested.
Further information– Peer reviewers for HI are sent an invitation to review an article relevant to their expertise. The invitation includes the name of the article and the abstract. Reviewers are asked to respond ASAP to the invitation (within 5 days), indicating whether they wish to accept or decline the invitation to review the article
– Reviewers that accept an invitation are sent the full article and requested to complete a review within 21 days. Reviews are undertaken online and documents can be uploaded should you wish to make electronic or hand written comments on the manuscript.
– Novice peer reviewers can be offered support
– A typical peer reviewer for HI has one or a combination of: PhD qualification; Medical degree; Masters degree with publications; a recognised expert in a specific field – as demonstrated by publications, presentations or professional standing. ^
– On average, a peer reviewers may review approximately two articles per year. ^
– The journal provides a mechanism for feedback to peer reviewers, through the provision of information regarding the decision rendered on reviewed manuscripts and a summary of other peer reviewer’s feedback
